“Mike and I, for example, have learned that we can do a hundred push-ups for Bagman if we give him a smart remark.”
Thanfiction – "Dumbledore's Army and the Year of Darkness"

"Corner, Boot, thirty push-ups!"

Terry looked at Michael and shook his head sadly. "He didn't seem to like your very explicit suggestion."

"And I didn't like doing squats for the last thirty minutes either," Michael answered, taking off his t-shirt and using it to wipe the sweat form his face.

"Now!" Fritz Bagman's voice was loud and commanding.

"He also seems to have an aversion to using verbs on his imperatives," Terry pointed out, helpfully.

Michael threw his shirt to the side. "Maybe he just finds words frivolous."

"Make that fifty," said Bagman without humor.

"Should those be divided equally?" asked Terry adjusting his glasses. "Or can we go by a proficiency curve."

Michael glared at him. "No proficiency curve unless it's inverted."

"You can do seventy each!" Bagman interrupted, swiftly ending the argument.

Michael transferred his glare from Terry to Bagman and moments later his wand was in his hand.

Terry quickly put an arm around Michael's shoulder. "Believe me, I'm as sore as you are, I know it seems like a great idea, but I also know how much you stink at maths, Mike. You literally cannot calculate how many push-ups that would cost you."

"I might risk it," Michael muttered under his breath.

"One hundred!" Bagman ordered. "And if you don't start now, believe me I'll make it double."

One. Two. Three. It would have been worth it. Four. Five. Six.

Seven. Eight. It wouldn't have been one hundred then.

Nine. Ten. Then do me a favor, Terry, and calculate the ratio of soreness plus my level of frustration now and compare it to my level of joy minus the level of soreness I would have gotten…. How many it is now?

Fourteen. Fifteen. And I told you, Mike. It can't be—

Oh, shove it!

Ahaha, Ravenclaws and their maths. Reading this made me remember how much I love the very minor canon characters— those Ravenclaw and Hufflepuff boys who come up only every so often... but who leave so much room for fleshing out.

Great work. :D

Oh, thank you! Ravenclaws are fun to write. Credit for this particular characterization goes to [livejournal.com profile] thanfiction as it was written to fit with his fic Dumbledore's Army and the Year of Darkness and it's thus part of his universe.

My very first love are the Marauders but I do have a soft spot for other minor characters and Michael Corner is definitely one of them.

Want to know something funny? I was reading a fic just now that was dedicated to you and I was just thinking, 'I should friend her' and seconds later I noticed you beat me to it ^_^

Holy. Motherfucking. Shit.

Those are my boys.

THOSE ARE MY BOYS

I mean, several people have written good, even excellent fic that is set in the DAYDverse, but you...that's not 'set in the DAYDverse,' that's not 'featuring versions of Michael Corner and Terry Boot inspired by thanfiction'. That's THEM. Michael Julius Corner and Tiresius Wolfric Boot, and it flows and it's witty and it's real and it fits not one reference but two and ties them together and slides in so perfectly seamlessly that it's hard to believe it wasn't there in the first place.

I've actually teared up.

May I father your children? Or at least send you chocolate?

*bounces* You liked it!! *bounces more*

You don't know how incredibly happy it makes me that you liked this little drabble, and so much more that you liked the way I wrote Terry and Mike here. You have no idea how much I love your boys so for you to tell me that you liked what I did with them, well it's like the best compliment ever! So thank you, really, really thank you!

Not that I'm adverse to the fathering process but I don't think I see children in my future, chocolate on the other hand...

Most excellent. You captured them perfectly. I second everything [livejournal.com profile] thanfiction said. Except the bit about fathering children.
