Prince of Tennis

So, I've been watching PoT and...
I love it!
Can anyone explain how I can fall in love with a show about tennis? I don't find tennis appealing at all but yet, I found myself glued to the TV, watching episode after episode.
I didn't care about it at first. I decided that if I didn't find it interesting by episode 10 I would give up. I fell in love in episode 9.
The characters are great and I already have my favorites... *drum roll* Kikumaru and Fuji. ♥
And the chibis, OMG the chibis! That show has to be on crack to have chibis like that. Kikumaru as a kitty playing with Karupin almost killed me. And Tezuka pulling matrix moves! *dies*
I love the Golden Pair, and I hate to see them loose. Inui makes me laugh, Atobe is sexy and I feel the urge to hug that guy who sleeps all the time.
I want to glomp Ryoma when he talks about Karupin in his sleep and Nanjiroh is the type of anime dad I adore. I love the training sessions more than the matches, since I can see the characters interact so well then. I love the Fudomine guys and the "friendly rivalry" with Seigaku.
I squeed when Fuji opened his eyes for the first time. I love how they call him prodigy and how he treats everyone fairly but if you mess with the ones he loves, you are dead meat.
I can't get enough of Kikumaru's playfulness, or the way he calls Ryoma Chibi and is almost always hugging someone. "I see moving things and I want to catch them." That fits his personality so well. ♥
Pairings... I can see so many pairings in this show, my yaoi fangirl is dancing with the many possibilities. *coughs* Anyone knows any good fanfics?
I've only seen till episode 140 so far, so please no spoilers...
Also, I've been trying to find torrents for episodes 154-157 and 159-160, but no luck. Are they available? Does anyone know where I can find them?
Now that I'm done fangirling, I guess I need to go make some icons.
And all this for a show about Tennis... *shakes head* Anime does weird things to my head.
I love it!

Date: 2005-06-25 09:47 am (UTC)I think the episodes you're missing haven't been subbed yet. I've only been collecting the episodes that Anime Otakus has subbed, and they're only up to 151. Shinsen started subbing at 161, and Anime Revolution has skipped around.
If you want any of the missing episodes untranslated, as well as all the character songs I have and the live action musicals, I'd be happy to burn DVDs for you. ^_~
I wish I could recommend a lot of fic to you, but I mostly read what goes into my archive (http://torishishi.com), and that's all fic about Ohtori, Shishido and Hiyoshi. You can check out my Links page at the site to find other sites that may have fic for specific teams or pairings. If you're looking for recs for specific pairings, let me know. I'll ask my flist. I have a lot of other PoT fans on my flist.
I'm so glad you like the show! *HUGS* Btw, the sleepy guy is Jiroh. *points to icon* He's such a sweetie.

Date: 2005-06-26 06:04 am (UTC)I wouldn't mind watching the missing episodes without translation, it would give me a chance to practice the little Japanese I know. *hugs* You are great, for offering to send them to , thank you, but are you sure? I mean postage is expensive and I live outside the US.. ^_^;;
I'll be sure to check your archive. Thanks for the link. I don't have any OTPs, I think I would just like to read fics featuring Kikumaru or Fuji.
*hugs your icon* I love that guy and thanks again.

Date: 2005-06-26 02:59 am (UTC)I LUB, LUB, LUB Teni-Puri!!!
Anime-Otaku's have only fansubbed up to 151. There is another fansub group that have done almost all of the rest of them but I'm waiting for Anime-Otaku to finish. You can find them on www.animesuki.com.
Kikumaru, Fuji and Echizen are my total favs! I watched a huge chunk of eps in a row and couldn't stop saying 'O-chibi-chan' every five minutes or so!
There aren't many good fics around. There is one that I really enjoy, even though I'm not a fan of some aspects of the story, and you can really tell that she's grown as an author as the fic progresses (just have to live with some bad grammar in the beginning). It's called 'Learning to Fall' and it's on fanfiction.net. The sequel, 'Learning to Land' is in progress.
There are also heaps of icons on the Teni-Puri lj group.

You too? *squee* I love that! I really, really do.
I'll check the fic, thanks for the rec. Hmmm I thought PoT was a big fandom, and I was hoping to get my friends to rec stuff so I don't have to go hunting for fics in the very evil place known as ff.net. But I have a start, I'll see how it goes.
And I think I'll make the icons myself. That's half the fun. ^__^
