I'm a Jew and I'm proud.

It's Passover. A traditional holiday that reminds us of freedom and hope. Pesaj, for that is the word in Hebrew, is a moment to look back and remind ourselves of the past. We thank God for delivering us from the land of Egypt, for taking us away from so many years of slavery and guiding us to the promise land.

In the last two days, as I've done my whole life, I attended to the Seder. I sat with my family and thanked God for all that He has given us. We read from the Hagadah (that means 'to tell' in Hebrew) and remember the story of Mosses, the ten plagues and the parted sea.

Passover is hope, is the idea of leaving behind a world on anguish and suffering, a world of slavery and pain.

I really don't know what emotion I felt as I sat in front of my computer, eating a Matza, and saw that anti-Semitic groups had googlebombed the word Jew. (Thanks to [livejournal.com profile] deoridhe and [livejournal.com profile] raletha for making me notice).

I'm not naïve, I know the world I live in, and I know there is a lot of hate going around. I'm lucky enough to have been sheltered from most of it but still, when someone targets something you love, something you are, it hurts.

And I'm just too proud to let them win.

Still boggling over why in the world someone would do that. That's just...weird.

*huggles Misanagi* Happy Passover, sweetie.

Hate is an awful thing.

*huggles back* Thanks, Alley.
