I liked this book from the first chapter. After all, there's nothing like a story about books for a booklover. The characters are interesting and real but I didn't develop that strong connection I do with the characters I really like. The story and the way it was presented was well crafted, keeping the tension and the interest in the story. I do feel that it isn't very elaborated plot wise. For a 600 page book not a lot happens but the story still is captivating and the narration works very well. I especially liked the quotes at the beginning of each chapter and how those and the book itself urged me to read or reread some other books. All in all, a very good read.

Hmmmmm. I have to dig this book out again. I meant to finish it before the movie came out, but once I put it down a couple years ago, I never really got the urge to pick it back up. It seemed to be taking me a long time to read, but I thought maybe that was because I was trying to read in German, which is not as easy for me to speed through. Not that I'm a record-holder in English. ;)

The thing about Hollywood movies is that it gets you motivated to finish the book sooner. I like reading the book before the movie because if I see it first chances are I won't be too motivated to read it. Maybe the whole reading in another language slowed you down. I don't speak German at all so I read the Spanish translation *shrugs*

This is a book that's on my list of ones I want to read at some point so pleased to see a review for it. Hex mentioned it when she was here too.

I read it because the movie just came out here so I wanted to read it before watching it. Give it a try, it's a nice read and I think you'll like it. I really should have pimped the comm before but at least I'm doing it now ^^;;
