1x2 drabble for 12/1 day

"What do you wanna be when you grow up?"
Heero moves his head to the side and looks at Duo. The grass tickles his cheek but he only frowns slightly and ignores it. He'll get used to it in a moment. "I'm grown up."
Duo shakes his head slightly. His eyes are looking up at the sky and at the puffy clouds Heero had been watching a moment ago. "Not really. We're still playing war games but eventually, we'll grow up."
"The war is over," Heero says, not liking how sad Duo's eyes look.
"Not for us. We all drifted back to it, using Preventers as our way to keep playing." Duo's head shifts to the side and now he's looking at Heero. "I just wonder what do you wanna be when playtime is finally over."
Heero thinks Duo's words over, thinks of what he said and what he is not saying but most of all he looks at Duo and tries to see, to understand why this question is so important, why Duo looks afraid of the answer. "I want to keep playing," he says finally.
Duo's eyes lower and the corners of his mouth curve slightly downwards. Heero lets his fingers rest over Duo's hand and caresses it slowly until Duo's eyes look back up, and then he explains, "I just want to play something else."
"Like what?" Duo's fingers curl and he is holding Heero's hand, not too tight but not too lose that he would let go.
Heero remembers the kids they saw a little earlier in the park, he remembers what they called their game, and grins. "House."
Duo's eyes widen slightly and Heero can see the surprise and delight reflected in them. Moving closer, Duo presses his lips on Heero's and when they part he asks, "Can I play too?"
