Isn't it weird when sometimes, in the middle of a normal day you feel strangely like an adult? I'm not sure I like it.

Also prelude_in_d did today's writer's block which reminded me that at some point I wrote a little story of my first crush which led me to hunting for it and reading it and now a think I'm a bit depressed.

I shall proceed to read some Draco/Harry now before sleep.

The Three Musketeers by Alexandre Dumas

My rating: 3 of 5 stars
I've always loved the Musketeers and the many stories built around them. Having a chance to get to know Dumas' characters was amazing. Unsurprisingly what I enjoyed the most was the friendship between the four musketeers. Their adventures are not particularly interesting but their misadventures and playfulness more than makes up for it. In the end, it's a book of boys being boys, so of curse it's hard not to like.

New York, New York?

Apparently I got a US visa so galadriel_lll and I are traveling to New York at the end of May. Is anyone in the area and want to meet up?

We are going to a wedding first at Wappinger Falls and then to NYC. Which, by the way, does anyone know of cheap clean accommodations there? I feel my wallet cry just looking at the prizes.

Also, any recommendations? Things I have to do, see, buy, eat??? Anything, really. Where is the best location? How can I save money in transportation, meals and the like? What is the meaning of life, the universe and everything?

I really hope to be able to meet up with some of you ^_^

Book Review:

The Restaurant at the End of the Universe by Douglas Adams

My rating: 3 of 5 stars
I didn't enjoy this book as much as the first. The narrative is witty and I liked seeing the characters again but the plot wasn't as deep as I would have liked and there were parts where the humor seemed a bit strained for me. Since this is a part of a series it might be because it's a transition book. I'll have to wait and see when I read the next ones. What I really liked was the last bit of the book that introduces a new twist to the story which I thought fit perfectly in the universe the book has created.

Why? I've been missing out on so much! Good thing is that I got to see it all in about a week in a marathon watch with my best friend. I don't think I could have handled the breaks. I just finished watching, just about a half an hour ago so...

An Archive of Our Own & Book Review

I've been slowly posting my fics in my An Archive of Our Own page.

I still have a long way to go and lots more fics to post but I like the site so far. It has many useful options like placing fics as part of a series, so now I can have Masterminds and College not-an-arc neatly organized in a same place. The importing is easy too and tagging is quite helpful.

Another thing that's really great is that you can add who you wrote a fic for and then the person has all the fics written for them appear in their "gifts" section. While posting fics there I noticed that a lot of my fics have been written for someone, for example, merith practically owns Masterminds ^_^

So is anyone else using Archive of Our Own? What are your usernames (so I can correctly put you as the receiver of a fic if I have written something for you)? So far I've been using LJ names or personal names... For me, I'm using Misanagi, as always.

The Road by Cormac McCarthy

My rating: 2 of 5 stars
It took me a little while to get into the flow of this book. I think my mistake was reading it after Stephen King's "The Stand". It was really just a coincidence since I started reading both book without knowing what they were about but of course, I couldn't help by making comparisons between the two.

In the end, though, I managed to get into the world of The Road. I started appreciating the things that bothered me at first (mostly the lack of proper names) and quite enjoyed the tale. It's one of those books that leaves much unsaid. A lot os implied and I both love and hate that narrative style. All in all is a very good read, chilling at times and thought provoking.

I had a great time on my holiday. As I've said before, Cartagena is a great city and I had a lot of fun. I'm back now, with a new tan and everything.

I didn't really go back to check LJ.

Nine days x 200 friends = yeah, I'm not doing that.

So if I missed anything, please leave me a comment ^_^. I'll see about getting some fic posted soon but right now I need to go grocery shopping since the fridge is empty and all we have plenty of is olives, chocolates and left over new year's alcohol.

2009 in Fics

Number of Fics (over 1000 words) = 13
Number of Fliclets (over 500 words) = 8
Number of Drabbles (under 500 words) = 31

Of those, I wrote 31 in Harry Potter, 10 in Gundam Wing, 5 in Merlin, 4 in Prince of Tennis, 3 in Supernatural and 1 in South Park.

Total words = 50456

So yeah, I basically did NaNo in a year instead of a month ^^;;

It's clear I favor writing shorter things. The longest piece I think was 6000 words, which isn't really that much either. I'm sure I used to write a lot more than this but in review I wrote more than I thought I did. There are more fandoms there than any other year, I think, which is fun, writing different characters and universes.

I should be good and write something to kickstart 2010 ^_^ and now that we are in the 2010 subject (is gonna take a while to get used to not typing the two zeros)...
